Potsdam, Bamberg and Munich
Quite distracted as I write this as the Sound of Music is being shown right behind me. Yup, that must mean I'm in Salzburg! It's shown every night at the Youth Hostel!
After missing the museums in Berlin, managed to get to Potsdam on Tuesday. Kind of like the Versailles of Berlin. Huge park filled with outrageously grand royal palaces. Prussian architecture is just so arrogant. Greco-Roman influence is everypresent. Statues everywhere. Lots of rain.
Bavaria much more friendly than Berlin. Bamberg so beautiful. Visited lots of churches/Doms. Catholic churches are stunning. So much gold and colour and art. Speaks a lot about God's splendour. Went into Michaelskirche. So much gold that I felt quite out of place. May try and communicate that better at some point.
3 hours in Munich - just long enough to see the Dom and another Michaelskirche (this is running the risk of turning into a church-visiting-holiday). Fantastic, but still not sure why build a church in honour of an angel.
Met Jo this morning. Good to have some company again. Snowed toady.
