Psyched
Having emerged from the abyss to trying to learn the anatomy of the spinal column, spinal cord and brain in four weeks (the med school's little joke, I think, ha ha), we are now chilling with a block on psychological health.
The main thing I've learnt about psychology (apart from how to spell it) is that it mainly involves drawing boxes and tables and flow diagrams. In many ways, it's the geography of the scientific world.
The lecture this morning was by a professor of psychology whose special research area was in memory. Was wondering if we were going to get a memory-superman like Roy Castle used to meet on Record Breakers, who could memorise 10 decks of cards in 6 minutes. Hopes were dashed when he announced he'd be speaking freestyle since he'd forgotten his notes.

a blue sky, a bar of chocolate, a Luton win, a glass of red wine, a quality film, an hour on the piano, a nice evening with the wife, good food with friends and a blog posting by Michael Holland - all the things that make a day great.
One of my medic-student-housemates has decided to intercollate (I can never remember how this is actually suppoed to be spelt) next year...
He's chosen to do "The Psychology Of Addictions".
I'm taking bets as to how long before he realises he's a fool :oD
psychology is all drawing boxes and flow charts, oh... and remembering people's names. Everyone thinks history is the subject where you have to remember who said what but it's not...it's psychology. Only one subject more vague than psychology... sociology. i studied that at degree level for 18 months and still don't know what it is for.
