Allow me to introduce...

Part of the contract I had to sign to be here states:
"I will always make clear to patients that I am a student and not a qualified doctor."

This isn't always easy. In the last few weeks Consultants and GPs have variously introduced me to patients as:

"A third year medical student",
"Dr Holland",
"One of our trainy doctors",
"Malcolm",
"The doctor in training",
"A hanger-on",
"Peter",
and my personal favourite, "Dr Michael".
