Blogging to the future
Is blogging dead? I hope not. I kind of wish I'd blogged more over the last couple of years. Many of the posts I wrote, I never published (mostly for fear of casting doubt on the compassionate nature of my intended career).
Anyway, by way of catching up (even if it's only me, a few years from now, who reads it), I'm currently based in Hull, having experienced everything Scunthorpe could offer in the way of entertainment and hospitality, and thinking seriously about career and the next few years. The next few months appear unsettlingly foreshortened. Easter brings with it the end of the penultimate rotation of this year and the beginning of the final one closely followed by exams. After this I have a couple of weeks grace (in which to move house) before finding out results and the decision of whether I can flying off to my elective. Two days after (potentially) returning from a very different culture and climate I shall make my way to an even more strange one (known as Grimsby), there begin the final year rotations, with job applications closing in October. I feel exhausted thinking about it.
We had a careers fair this week. The decision whether to stay up here or move back down South is difficult. In the last 3 weeks I have been absolutely sure I want to move back to the South and also thoroughly convinced I'd rather stay in Yorkshire. I'm a bit concerned that the final decision will be made based on my particular frame of mind at the instant of time immediately prior to sending the application. The director of the Foundation School (responsible for training doctors in the first 2 years postgraduate) gave us a lecture about the merits of staying in Hull and East Riding. He was most convincing and sold us a very attractive package. Who knowns, eh? Wonder what the Urim and the Thummim would say.

I hope blogging's not dead too - I've enjoyed yours and am enjoying writing my own now. (Are any of your censored posts still extant? I'm intrigued...)
Good luck with the manic months.
