GP Day 1

I was pondering this morning as I got dressed (with the lights off because the curtains had malfunctioned) whether it might be better to commute to Scunny most days.  Sleep last night was very broken and if my GP is close enough I could probably do it from Hull quite quickly.  We’ll see.

Before starting at the surgery I had to go to the hospital to get my NHS Smart Card – a card that allows us to login to Britain’s GP-land computer systems.  Apparently we keep this card for the rest of our careers.  Great in some ways, except that the photo on mine does not hide the fact that I have had little sleep all weekend.  In fact, one friend suggested it looks like I’ve been on the run all weekend and had finally escaped over the border only moments before the photo was taken.  But never mind, computers don’t care what you look like.

I thought the purpose of any ID photo was to make the person therein depicted look like an escaped convict who's just been through several hedges backwards. There must be a special filter in the camera...
