The university is now very quiet. In fact, I think they may have even forgotten we are here. The Union has closed at the weekends, which means my laundry schedule is all disrupted. Is Hull the only place with a two semester year? We always had three terms at Bristol.
But anyway, more birds and bees this week. I've read an article about eating placentas (apparently they're good fried with onions and garlic and a single placenta can feed ten people), although you'll be pleased to hear this was recreational reading and not a new NHS advisory initiative: "SMOKING KILLS. BUT PLACENTAS ARE RATHER TASTY."
Also read an article about how the portrayal of medicine in film and on TV has given the public unrealistic expectations. On that note, I saw Mission Impossible III last week. Highly entertaining. But really! 15 compressions to 2 breaths? So last year. Just so you know, and this might be useful, though I hope not, it's now 30 to 2.

As far as I have been able to make out - only the posh 'red-brick' unis have 3 terms. All the rest have 2 semesters - and have to go back earlier after christmas!

At Brum, we have 2 semesters, but three terms...oh yes....
The exam period counts as part of the second semester.
I think it's basically Brum being red-brick, but wantin to be 'hip' and "down with the kids".
