Be still my beating... oh no, my mistake

Where have I been, I hear you clamour! Mostly under here somewhere.

Books, books, books

I have feedback about what I have managed to write tomorrow.

But anyway, when I've not been taxing my poor brain with bowels, I've been focused on, shall we say, matters of the heart.

Yes, that's right we've been studying the cardiovascular system: listening to chests, playing with plastic models and looking at prosections. This is interesting. We have four bodies (the cadavers), but only one heart. Now, I've only been studying anatomy for a few weeks so I'm reluctant to ask, but isn't that a bit unusual?

How heartless.

But to prove to you all that I have one...

That's me. It's pretty textbook actually. It's also pretty nerdy boasting about your ECG, I'm sure. If it wasn't textbook there'd be something wrong. It's good fun wiring yourself up to a computer and watching your heart beat away. Of course, it worked a lot better once we realised the 'rather handy cable tie' was in fact a finger probe for measuring pulse. But, you know, we're first years.

I'm sure that there are some 'blog awards' that happen somewhere sometime. I don't trawl through many blogs apart from a few of the people I know. However, even with my limited experience, I've got to say how much I enjoy Michael's posts. You are, sir, officially a legend.

Brief tutorial to increase Ian's impressedness.

First spike: atria (top chambers of heart) stimulated to contract.

Second spike-complex: ventricles (bottom bits) stimulated to contract.

Third wavey-spikey bit: ventricles 're-charge' as they relax.

And so life goes on.

I was on AAU on Friday night and became a pro at doing ECG's. The first time I had to look in the book to see which wire goes where but after that it was fine.

I also did lots and lots of property lists. I hate property lists.

Hmmm, i was going to ask you to take a look at my appendix, maybe whip it out for me, but after this post I'm not so sure.

Better go, I feel a slight bursting sensation within...

Well, I was beginning to wonder whether you were still alive, so I'm glad you provided proof! Hope you've managed to fight your way to the top of the bowel textbook pile now.
